This morning me and my dad attended a wonderful morning service at a church we used to attend. We went today to experience the Patriotic Service in honor of America's Birthday. It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized that freedom was never free in countries. This morning it was as if we were at the steps of the capital in Washington D.C. There was full percussion, orchestra, and brass section along with a choir. The reason was to honor those who have served and serve. A variety of patriotic songs were sang and they honored those in their individual branches to stand when they heard their Military Hymn played. While the song played the division flag was carried down and a person in full uniform walked down the aisle carrying it. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard...it was so cool .There were 70 year olds wearing there sailor suits and as proud as ever. I watched my dad and grandfather stand during the Air Force march and it was so moving. Overall, it was an amazing morning. So glad to see those who gave so much be honored. How blessed we are to live in a Country where will choose to live in the way we please. I hope this week and always I will continue to never take it for granted. My only regret today was that I wish Myers could have seen it...he would've loved it :) ><>,Kelly

Genetic Compositions
Members of the Bewan Blog: Here’s the stock you are made of…If you ever think you have an unbearable pain or suffering to go through, just think first of Lucile V.C.B. as I saw her this morning. Swollen thumb bursting red with a red line running up her wrist, she shuddered to even have air touch it. She forwarned the Physician’s Assistant who had told her it might hurt, that she was very tender --even from the time her Mother made her dresses and would accidentally prick her with a pin while adjusting seams.
I squeamishly asked her if she wanted me to wait outside (say“yes,” say “yes”). She said she might “holler”. Was that a yes? I knew that would be the coward’s way out. I actually thought of Linda’s innumerable visits to Mayo with Mother and seeing through the treatment of her eye, legs, foot, stomach, head, hmmm, you name it, she’s seen it, --procedure and treatment. So I stuck it out and Mother definitely stuck it out, three shots of anesthesia and some scalpel business I chose not to watch, but stayed for ---she made it through with several muffled groans and not one holler. She did choke up just before the doctor came in, telling me about the time Daddy rushed home from college when Camille was born. I almost lost it then, but whew, we both made it through the rest!
She’s all patched up now with an oversized thumb bandage and sleeping off the distress of the day. Thank you, in your own way, Mother for being 93 strong. We all carry a piece of it with us. ..right down to that cute little Riley as seen below.

I Finally made it!!!
Wow! that was some process to get on this blog but totally worth it :) Everything is fine here in Saratoga with the exception of some incredible rain storms. We had a delightful visit and lunch with the brown/kurtz crew and the added bonus of meeting Erin's charming Justin. Riley was so taken with Justin she thought he was one of the American Gladiators:) Glad to hear that Kelly found a job she likes I sure hope it turns out to be wonderful she deserves it. I am finally finding my niche the truffles and I have been offered to teach a class in the fall at the high school here maybe more if it goes over well, it would be a perfect jump start for a business-fingers crossed. Riley graduates pre-school tomorrow the ceremony is cap and gown I will post a picture afterwards SHE LOOKS SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!! This is fun can't wait to read more.

I just updated the template so from time to time there might be new designs going on! On the 16th I added Erin, Nicholle, Matt, and Harrison the addresses I did not have earlier when I had started. Since I created the blog I don't know totally what the exact steps are but I have re invited you Nicholle and it says you are an author, so I guess give it another try. Once you are logged in you can click on New Post and it should let you type. As an author you have access to write on the blog. I hope that works! I have really enjoyed reading everyones post. Mini-Family Reunion
Dear Family -
Since my last post on 6-13-08, the magical memories of summer days continue with lots of playfulness -- and great get-togethers. Being with Riley is the Best!!! Of course, she constantly tells me "grandma, you're the best!" -- and I agree with her whole-heartedly. I AM the best around her, because she makes it totally easy to laugh and play all day long. I was reading her a pretty little bedtime story titled "Cat Heaven" -- and, of course, she kept asking me if that was where Asia (Nicholle's 18 year old kitty that passed away a couple of years ago) was now. So, I said, yes, she was in Cat Heaven....and Riley said "Maybe she'll come back!!!" -- in the most excited tone of voice -- and threw herself down on the bed, and said "That will be the best day of my life!"
She says that a lot. When we were driving to New Hampshire the next day to visit Erin, Justin, LInda and Myers -- we passed a llama farm, and Matt called Riley's attention to them......once again, she said in her high-pitched voice --"Oh, wow - I've never seen a llama -- this is the best day of my life!" And I'm telling you, anyone nearby FEELS LIKE IT'S THE BEST DAY OF THEIR LIVES! Her enthusiasm is thrillingly contagious!
We had a beautiful trip through the Green Mountains of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire for aobut 2-1/2 hours, and there was Erin waving to us at the end of her loooooong driveway.
Justin already had the grill going for lunch, and Linda and Myers were there, also! Everyone was dressed in their summer whites! It was cool and beautiful weather. We enjoyed delicious grilled burgers, a great bean salad and mixed fruit -- all prepared by Erin and Justin. Then we lit the candles on a scrumptious double-chocolate cake and sang Happy Bitthday to Myers! Riley was the only one who got a "present" -- as Aunt Linda had found yet another lady bug gift, that was a darling silver mylar kite with a big ladybug on the front. She unwrapped it immediately and wanted to see it fly -- but, not quite enough wind.....so, she came inside and gave the kite to Myers, sitting comfortably in an easy chair and said "hold it up!" .... then she ran back and forth holding the string holder and letting it out more and more and callin g to Myers "Hold it higher, , higher!" -- you never tell Riley something can't be done.
We all piled in 2 cars and Erin led the way into Hanover to show us around Dartmouth campus.
It's such a lovely New England town -- full of historical houses and teeming with collegians. We New Yorkers finally had to say goodbye at about 7pm and wended our way back over the hills to Saratoga. We're looking forward to seeing the New Hampshirians in New York -- and returning to visit them at peak leaf-peeping season!

Mother woke up today saying she felt so good. How nice since it's the 72nd occasion of her and Daddy's anniversary! Who knew that they were married on a Sunday night and 8pm? She took her newspaper notification of her marriage to CHANGES (hair salon) today and they all loved it. I think she's taken her engagement picture in the past and floored them .
Be sure to keep us posted with all your (summer) happenings!

Some Some Summertime!
Hello dear family!
Signing on in sunny Saratoga Springs this week -- feel like a nomad -- a few workdays in New York City -- a couple of inspiring weeks, working and writing in Middletown, and then a quick drive up Route 87 with Erin to stay another 2 weeks with Riley, Nicholle and Matt. It's already been a sensational summer -- and I don't think summer "officially begins" until June 21st.
That's an auspicious occasion in our family --as most of you know -- not only because it's the longest day of the year, and referred to as the summer solstice, because the Sun is at it's closest apex to Earth -- but also because that's the day Lucile and Jimmy decided to:
choose one:
1. tye the knot
2. begin the first day of the rest of their lives
3. bury the hatchet
4. settle down
5. pitch in
6. walk the plank
7. walk down the aisle
8. commit themselves
9. merry
10. all of the above
I thought it would be interesting to our Venerable Mother if each of us could send her a card on June 21st -- NOT an "anniversary" card -- but an "appreciation card" in which each one of our favorite memories about their marriage. My favorite memory was when Daddy bought a speed boat and taught me and Joel to waterski -- I think Linda, Glenn and Lucille were still too young. But, it's my favorite memory of their marriage because, even though Mother did not know how to swim -- she donned a life-vest, put on those skis, and let Daddy drag her around Biscayne Bay on her fanny just help us kids get over our fear of learning to ski!!!!
Great cooperation on our parent's part!! and, sure enough, me and Joel learned to love waterskiing!!! I know our children will have very different memories -- but, I think it will be a BIG HELP to our Mother/Grandma/ Great Grandma, to revisit some of our favorite memories and bring a new light to her mind!
Thought for the day -- It's always helpful to light up your mind with Happy Memories!
I have so many more memories to share -- and news, too -- most of it currently concerns my WONDERFUL WRITER'S WEEK with Erin Elizabeth Brown. Remember these names, because within two years, Erin Elizabeth Brown and Camille B. Morgan will be alongside J.K. Rowling and Daphne Du Maurier !!! Love hearing from family.

Summer Scenes
Anxiously awaiting to read some more family bloggers---since I already know Kelly and Neil's good news. Here's mine: I'm headed to Amelia next Wednesday to visit with Mother while Linda and Myers head up to Erin's.
I can't wait to hear about the Writers Week at Rose Cottage that Erin and Camille shared last week. I'm quite envious.
We're looking forward to Joel, Joanie and Pete's run in the Peachtree Road Race next month.

Music,life in general
Once this gets off the ground this is going to be a great way to have an update of everyone in the family.After a year of negotiation(and $5,000 dollars later in lawyer fees) the group I co-founded with rapper Kyle Lucas will be signing with Big Boi of Oukast's Purple Ribbon Entertainment Label. Outkast rose to fame in 1994 and since then sold 50 million albums and won seven Grammys.We couldn't be more excited with the people we are working with because these are the artists that made us want to write music anyway.We also are negotiating a contract with manager Danny Zook,who is also Cee-Lo manager of the group Gnarls Barkley who had the smash song "Crazy".The only setback is the length of time the legalities take to make things official and to start generating income from it.During the day I work part time at The UPS store in Buckhead to pay for bills and to get by.I'm single again but I have a great group of friends and family that give nothing but support.I hope to hear from everyone soon with the great updates in their life.

So after a lovely week in Amelia, I came home and was awakened the next morning to a wonderful phone call! I got a job as the art teacher at a great public school in our county! Most of you know I had been looking and interviewing for some time, and had been waiting and waiting for the right position. There is only one art teacher per school so they are extremely hard to come by. This is my true passion, kids and art! I am so excited to be starting in the fall. My hard work in college has paid off! ><>, Kelly

Hi Guys!
So the slogan might be a little silly but this thought to do a blog came to me a few months ago. Camille had emailed me about some happy news going on in her life and then her blessings reminded me of my blessings and I wanted to pass it on to all the BEWANS , descendants and friends
Also I really wanted to use the name Bewan in Honor/Memory of the wonderful James Bewan. My fondest memory of his personality was his positivity. Always whistling, and making everyone around him happy. From secretly showing me where the Easter eggs were on Elkmont to the cashier at the store he conversed with by name.
As a kid I remember telling my mom how I wanted to be a news anchor one day. However, I would only report on positive and uplifting stories. Some might say that is seeing the world through rose colored glasses.
But it's true, I recently changed the channel the other night from watching a documentary about America's Prisons to Jon and Kate plus 8 (a reality show about a family raising twins and sextuplets all under the age of 6). My mood changed and what a difference I felt. So long story short---promise my blogs won't be this long winded....this can be a way for us to write about what is going on in our life, blessings, luck, happy days, good feedback, anything that made you feel good and you want to share. So feel free to get blogging.
